Lighthouse of Estaca de Bares, Galicia
The lighthouse of Estaca de Bares is located in the municipality of Mañón Galicia. This lighthouse rises to more than one hundred meters high and is the northernmost Spanish lighthouse.
This lighthouse presides over the site of Ventureiro, a mound that forms the well-known -and very named- Punta de la Estaca de Bares.
The two seas
Estaca de Bares lighthouse establishes the limit between two waters; on one side -and on its left- is the Atlantic and on the other -on its right- the waters of the Cantabrian Sea.

The Lighthouse of Bares has a height of 33 meters and its lantern can reach 25 nautical miles.
Ownership of the Estaca de Bares Lighthouse
Belonging to the Port Authority of Ferrol/San Cibrao, the lighthouse will be one hundred and seventy years old in 2020; such ephemeris being the first of September. Although it was not electrified until 1939, before that it worked by oil or petroleum for its five wicks. At that time it cost 131,830 reales.
