An Ortiguerés neighbor, in Loiba, Galicia, decided to install a wooden bench at the edge of the cliffs of Loiba. The most beautiful bank in the world is in Loiba, Galicia.

This bench was located in the viewpoint of Coitelo and with an orientation that allows to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the beautiful cliffs and all the immense wide sea. This bench is known as the most beautiful bench in the world.

The cliffs of Loiba are located in Galicia, between the Sierra de la Faladoira and the Atlantic, the Ría de Ortigueira, the port of Espasante and the Cape of Estaca de Bares.

The sandy areas of Loiba

Loiba is home to a series of sandy areas such as: riberia grande, ribeira do carro, o picón, gaivoteira and coitelo. These narrow systems remain hidden when the high tide arrives and to reach them it will be necessary to go down the winding path that descends to the sea.

Loiba rises majestically in its different heights of between 80 and 160 meters that rise with the elegance of that which has been built by nature.

Tourism in Loiba

How to get to Loiba

Most of the area is accessible through forest tracks and trails, through which you can reach beaches and different viewpoints from which you can let yourself be carried away by the sight and smell. Worthy of mention is Estaquín de Sigüelos.

The winds of Estaca de Bares

Here the sea smells of history, and the iodine gets to your guts. These winds are so healthy that once you have breathed them through every pore, you will never be the same again.

The furnas

The coast is so beaten by the sea that you can see how only nature is able to simply but masterfully carve the stone at will. There are the «furnas» which are existing caves in the cliffs of Loiba. The best known of these furnas in the Penafurada.

The Ortigueira Festival

It turns out that while a musical festival was being held in Ortigueira, a group of artists from Scotland -and who were performing at the festival- came to visit the vicinity of such a beautiful Galician area as Loiba and Estaca de Bares. These Scottish musicians discovered with great pleasure a solitary bench that was waiting to be used by whoever wanted the comfort of its wood and the enormous attraction of its views.

After the experience of settling on the bench, they wrote -behind one of the vertical planks- «The Best Bench in the World», being that lapidary phrase with which it has earned the worldwide fame that precedes it since it was immortalized by the photographer Dani Caxete, receiving a special mention for a night photograph of the best bench in the world in Loiba.

I had heard a lot about this fantastic place. I had seen hundreds of photographs, both night and day. The simple wooden bench waited for me until one day I could not contain myself and traveled to it. When I arrived, the feeling of its shelter and the view of the landscape that allowed me – comfortably – to enjoy it won me over for life. Loiba is wonderful. Estaca de Bares is -without a doubt- the King of the North.

Photographing on the most beautiful bench in the world

Photographing at the Loiba Bench is relatively simple, if you do not coincide with a large influx of people. The fame of this bench grew to almost impossible to calculate when the TWAN project of Unesco highlighted this photograph, including the bench. In the image you can see the purely starry skies and free of light pollution of Loiba and the extensive panoramic view of the Cape of Estaca de Bares to Cape Ortegal.
